I like London. And here's a free tip if you need to go to the bathroom. Don't ask to go to the bathroom. They'll look at you funny. Especially in stores. Because bathrooms are where they have baths. If you need to go, ask for the loo.

Well, what I liked best is that they seem to take the environment seriously. There are messages on TV telling you to save power by taking machines out of stand-by and turning them off; there's tons of public transportation; there are shops where you can take your old clothes and get them remade into something cool without having to buy new ones; and they have shown that a country can be successful AND reduce its carbon footprint.

They estimate that machines left in standby — all those machines like TVs and stereos with little red lights or computers left in sleep mode — burn the same amount of carbon in a year as 1.4 million long-distance flights. And that's just for the UK. Look around your house and see what's using electricity for no good reason.
