Process of roasting pumpkin seeds

Carving a pumpkin? Don't throw out the seeds. Roast them!

You'll need an oven, so get permission from an adult. They might need to help, so have them stick around.

You can make the seeds sweet or salty. Try this recipe, it's sweet and salty.

Wash all the gunk off with water until you just have seeds.

Then add some flavor. Stir in 5 tablespoons of sugar and a quarter teaspoon each of ground ginger, cinnamon, salt, and cumin. Mix in 1.5 tablespoons of canola oil.

Spread the seeds out on parchment paper on a baking sheet, and bake them at 350 degrees for about an hour, stirring every 10 minutes so they all get toasted evenly. Be careful — the oven will be very hot and stirring them can be tricky.

Soon they'll be golden brown and delicious. Let them cool and then eat them!
