How cute is this? Here's one of the Husky puppies we met last year. They were training to be in the world's most famous dog sled race, the Iditarod. The race takes us back to a time when many people used dogs to transport mail, medicine and supplies across Alaska, especially during the days of the Gold Rush.
Yup. The GREENS are rooting for rookie musher Joe Gans. It's the first time he's taking his dogs on this treacherous journey. The race is over 1000 miles long in subzero conditions. Joe's got his wits and a team of 16 dogs to get him through. And talk about green energy — no gasoline, just high protein dog food. He'll need a lot, though: these dogs burn over 10,000 calories per day!
